Pip was a newsreader and Journalist at 6PR and 96FM for a few years before working as Howard Sattlers Producer on his Morning talkback and current affairs programme.

Pip then spent some time overseas and in London where she worked as a producer at MTV and VH1 television.

On her return she moved to Sydney where she was appointed as a producer on  Foxtel Channels, Arena, working primarily on The Hub, an entertainment show hosted by Amanda Keller.

“I’m looking forward to helping 2oceansFM radio reach its full potential”

2oceansFm Broadcast from Lions Annual Action

2oceansFM recently broadcasted live from the annual Lions Auction.

The monster auction run by Leeuwin Lions at Augusta on Saturday January 14 raised $8000.

This figure was boosted to $10,000 by excellent sales from the Lions shed, a one-day raffle and good figures from the Lions bookshop and toyshop.

Club president Matt Russell said the joint recipients were the Asthma Foundation and Parkinson’s WA.

Driving the auction for the Lions was Alec Williams, a professional auctioneer with a great sense of humour and precision timing.

While bargain hunters had a great day, a number of items attracted good prices.

A well used Lions Mazda utility was sold for $1,500, a racing kayak went for $350 and six loads of firewood raised a total of $1,500.  However, a licensed dinghy on trailer failed to reach its reserve price and was passed in.

Auction committee chairman Ray Chuck thanked all the families and friends who attended the auction and the team of Lions, partners and volunteers who helped make it happen. He said auctioneer Alec Williams deserved a special accolade for an outstanding effort.

Outside Broadcast Vehicle – A Fundraising Project

2oceansFM FundraiserOver the coming months 2oceansFM will be conducting a fundraising campaign to raise funds to purchase a vehicle suitable for conversion to a mobile outside broadcast studio. Vehicles similar to a Toyota Hi-Ace, Ford Transit, etc. would be ideal, as a requirement will be to park in normal parking bays.

van3Currently, each time the station takes part in an outside broadcast, we have to handle everything several times, including the loading of heavy, fragile and expensive equipment into several vehicles, increasing the risk of damage every time.

Our total to date stands at $16,930, thanks mainly to a generous donation from the Jack and Lena Ryall Trust via Kim and Karen Basford.

The target amount of $20000 is an arbitrary figure, but should we raise that sum we would be the proud owners of a very suitable OB vehicle. Radiothons, raffles, donations, letters to the major car dealers, etc. are some of the activities planned, with no target date, but it is a major goal of 2oceansFM for 2015.

Once the OB vehicle is operational, the opportunities to broadcast from a greater number of locations with minimum effort. There will also be more opportunities for community groups to get involved in Augusta’s own community radio station.

Happy New Year 2015

The volunteers, announcers and everyone involved behind the scenes at 2oceansFM, Augusta Community Radio, would like to wish all our listeners both locally and abroad, all the best for a happy prosperous and safe New Year.

Why not make your New Years resolution to get into community broadcasting?
See our Get Involved page for details on membership and volunteering.

In the meantime, here is a lesser known ABBA song to get you in the mood.
